<\/a>We are the Genesis Community Project.
\nThis is a new voluntary organisation set up to try to help a Favela in Ibirite Brazil.
\nI was introduced to this slum last August and found it to be a area of great\u00a0poverty\u00a0and need. Crime is rife and the problems are huge. However, I discovered a church working in the area doing some amazing things for their community. Whilst there is no question about their passion and desire to change things and bring hope to the community, the resources are\u00a0extremely\u00a0limited.<\/p>\n

This is where G.C.P comes in, working in partnership with our friends there we believe we can make a difference to the lives of the families and children<\/p>\n

We are based in Garforth, Leeds in the UK and enjoy support from several local organisations including DaySpring church and Baraka coffee shop. \u00a0We welcome involvement and support from others with an interest in helping the people in this Brazilian favela.<\/p>\n

We aim to run several fund-raising events, with the money being sent directly to those who are working inside the favela to benefit the local people.
